Color Temperature
In order to classify the different types of white light, the concept of color temperature is applied which is described as the color impression of a perfect black-body radiator at certain temperatures. Many purchasers solely focus on terms like warm white, neutral white, cold white and related Kelvin-grades, but such classifications are not sufficient in order to describe the quality of light temperature in a precise way.

The creation of color temperature is based on a complex interaction between semiconductor-composition and a phosphorous-layer. The consistency of light temperature depends on several factors, such as the used phosphor layer-technology and the operation of the semiconductor. Even tiny variations in manufacturing will automatically lead to inconsistencies of the color temperature. This will inevitably disturb the extremely sensitive human eye, which is wired to detect smallest exceptions and inconsistencies.

Binning
A solution to the above described problems can be achieved with proper binning. Binning is a physical sorting of LED lamps of similar brightness and color, which can be described in standards like ANSI C78.377-2008.

LEDs are not one fixed wattage/light output, and they are also not one fixed color/CCT/chromaticity. These parameters vary and depend on factors like drive current, operating temperature, number of operating hours, phosphor technology and the design of the LED lamp itself. FecosLED has selected the appropriate binning standards in order to ensure consistent color temperature under diverse operating temperatures.
