CREE LED bulb can save up to 90% energy06-05-2014
CREE has launched a new LED bulb with 3 switchable power levels. This bulb can be switched to the equivalent brightness of an incandescent bulb of which with 30W, 60W and 100W. Whilst having the same brightness, CREE claims its newly developed  LED bulb can save 90% energy compared to a traditional incandescent bulb.
As CREE pointed out both, the traditional energy-saving lamp or incandescent bulb are not dimmable and their brightness can’t be controlled. In contrast, CREE’s new “three-way LED bulb” can be switched between 320 lumens, 820 lumens and 1620 lumens. This means that the human eye can detect significant brightness changes. Moreover, a significant energy saving effect can be realized by changing between three lighting power consumptions of 3W, 8W and 18W.

CREE claims that its new bulb life-span is expected to reach 25,000 hours. CREE said 320 lumens is for ambient lighting, 820 lumens is good for reading, and the 1620 lumens is equivalent to ordinary light bulbs. The LED bulb’s colour temperature is 2.700K. With its new bulb CREE has certainly brought a promising new item onto the market. However, the bulb’s current price of 24.97 USD per piece is still very high.
