Cree’s new CLQ6A RGBW technology15-09-2017
As Cree has released on its website, its family of high class LEDs for architectural lighting design has been expanded by a new RGBW (red, green, blue, white) class described as CLQ6A. As Cree pointed out, this new RGBW LED will make it possible to realized architectural lighting designs which previously have not been possible.

The new LED is a so-called “four-in-one-source” with a single point source. The latter allows excellent optical control, efficient color mixing and simplified design compared to old non-integrated solutions. Through this high quality light stream, beautiful results in architectural lighting design can be achieved.

As Cree furthermore remarks in its report, architectural lighting belongs to the most challenging lighting due to the complexity of installations, illuminated materials, project scales and visibility. Cree’s new CLQ6A offers an excellent opportunity to tackle these challenges with superior luminous flux, high color consistency and rich color options which is essential for architectural lighting. This is what Cree calls “application-optimized LEDs with best options to meet their design requirements.”

The new series has been designed to close the gap between low power and high power LEDs as so far used for comparable applications with a brightness increase of more than seven times over similar 4:1 LEDs that have not been optimized for architectural lighting. Cree finally stated that the company will continue to extend its portfolio of specialized LEDs for architectural lighting within other family groups like CLX6F. gm.
