With a press release on its website Lumileds has introduced an upgraded LUXEON 5050 that sets the standard for high lumen per watt (lm/W) for high bay and street lighting applications. With newly released LM-80 reliability data, the product also meets DLC (Design Lights Consortium) Premium V4.1 requirements, enabling fixture manufacturers’ access to high utility rebates and energy savings.
Luxeon 5050 features the best performance of all multi-die emitters on the market, reaching flux levels of 350 lm and 175 lm/W at 2W LED drive conditions (4000K, 70CRI at 85°C). But the advantage goes beyond superior flux. The round lens (4.6 mm) eases optic design and can be used with the majority of commercially available 2W optics, resulting in high flux and efficacy. With the industry’s lowest thermal resistance (2 K/W), LUXEON 5050 further enhances performance by removing heat and reducing heat sink requirements.
Luxeon 5050 is an ideal choice to replace mid-power LEDs with the benefit of reducing fixture size and weight. Using Luxeon 5050 enables overall smaller system size, which means very compact fixtures are possible and is ideally used in high bay and street lighting as well as indoor spotlighting needs.sm.
