As Sylvania has released, the company invested 1million USD to build a new laboratory with for Research & Development (R&D), Project Engineering and Product Quality Control (QC). This is accompanied by another investment of 2.5 million USD for the construction of a new LED manufacturing plant in Costa Rica. Sylvania’s new laboratory is supposed to operate for the luminaires exported to South America and Central America.
The new laboratory has more than 20 high-tech equipment and supposed to speed up the testing processes of products designed in Costa Rica, as well as the verification of imported products. Sylvania was the first private company to operate a laboratory in the region and has brought some unique equipment into Central America.
Four areas are addressed in Sylvania LAB to facilitate specific luminaires for different industries including photometric, electrical, thermal measurements and mechanical testing. As Sylvania expressed this will enable the development of products for the specific needs of customer from different sectors throughout the region. Another advantage are faster delivery times and a more efficient promotion of the LED technology in general. sm.
