As Osram has released, the company has equipped Beijing airport – which is the world’s biggest with an area of 1.4 million square meters- with 1.300 pieces of LED luminaires. The lighting design inside the airport has followed a concept of mixing natural with artificial light.
Beijing Daxing International Airport was built completely from scratch in a time of only 4 years. The airport’s has the capacity to dispatch 100 million passengers and is expected to see 300 starts and landings each day.


All 1.300 LED luminaires as installed by Ostram can be operated through a smart lighting system. Next to the functional challenge of providing proper illumination during day and night time, Osram’s lighting also features the airport’s unique and futuristic architectural design. Osram furthermore pointed out that compared to traditional lighting, the energy consumption will be lowered by as much as two thirds. Sm.
