Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (“SETi”) and Seoul Viosys, a subsidiaries of Seoul Semiconductor, announced the development of a portable surface disinfection unit, the “Photon Stand” as a new type pf tje Violeds UV-C LED technology application.

The device is designed to disinfect COVID-19 occurrence areas, such as hospital rooms contaminated by infectious patients or other locations such as schools and children’s day-care centers. As its developers stated, the “Photon Stand” unit is designed for surface disinfection and kills more than 90% of viruses and bacteria within 10 minutes for a room up to 29.02m2 and 99% within 10 minutes for a room up to 13.84m2.


Seoul Viosys and SETi will promote both the Photon Stand surface disinfection unit for OEM manufacture, as well as the Violeds UV-C LED technology to medical equipment manufactures across global markets.

The Photon Stand surface disinfection unit can be customized according to the size of the disinfection area and the required speed of disinfection. As the developers furthermore pointed out, the design of the Photon Stand is the result of dozens of studies of coronavirus disinfection done by Korea University and KR Biotech.

As Seould Viosys pointed out, chemical disinfectants used for sterilization of quarantine areas can be fatal to the human body or cause dermatitis and breathing difficulties if they are incorrectly used, or if residual substances are not properly removed after disinfection. UV light leaves no residue, unlike chemical disinfectants, and it disappears without a trace. Therefore, it is suitable for a wide range of medical and multi-use facilities,” said an official of Seoul Viosys.gm.
