As Signify has released on its website, the company has developed a new dynamic lighting system for poultry production which can change the intensity and colour of the light and therefore can reduce the stress in chickens. The new product is launched under the company’s animal lighting speciality brand name ONCE.

Like the concept of Human Centric Lighting (HCL), the light’s intensity and colour are changed throughout the daytime to optimize the chicken’s circadian rhythm and thus contributing to their well-being. It helps farmers to adjust intensity, photoperiod, and spectrum in response to birds’ needs, bringing nature’s power to your growing facility. The different lighting sceneries can be set with the help of an App.


According to first experiments with the new lamps, the distribution of chickens in the barn has improved, and because of that also the chicken quality. As growers furthermore reported, the mortality and rejects in the barn have been reduced to half of the normal levels and a significantly improved health of the animals has been observed.

Wireless app-based control makes NatureDynamics easy to use and in addition, the app makes it possible to control the bird’s movement by changing light groups and even apply different settings in certain parts of the barn. A temporary override function lets farmers change settings in a light group for a certain period, such as during inspections or harvests.

As Signify finally stated, the first luminaire that is released to work with the NatureDynamics Dome which can create a highly uniform lighting grid that makes the luminaire suitable for general lighting purposes. The wide beam angle ensures that birds naturally spread across a facility, preventing crowding. Furthermore, system’s base units are designed to facilitate multiple types of luminaires mounting like surface mounting, wire mounting or suspension from wires which makes this solution ideal for a wide range of applications, in a wide range of environments.
